Jan. 15th, 2009 08:38 pmSo, how did the TV spot go? Well, it went OK. I sounded like a frog, but at least there was some sound from my throat. I drank about a gallon of hot tea with lemon and honey, but after 3 hours of teaching yesterday, the shouting at the gym class last night, followed by 3 hours of teaching again this morning, there was no hope. So when asked who should go first at the interview, me or Patricia, I immediately said Patricia. *grin*
Basically, we stood all of the books for the four authors who will be attending the signing on Saturday--me, Patricia Bray (
pbray), Barbara Campbell, and S.C. Butler (
scbutler)--up on the interview table. The person in charge introduced himself and told us the following: "I think we'll start by asking you something about your day jobs, then talk about the signing." And that was all we got for prep. I downed the last of my tea/lemon/honey, and then we were off! It was two and a half minutes of, "Where did that question come from?" Patricia got the worst question, but she handled it with grace and aplomp while I snickered nearby. Then it was my turn. I managed to mention that with 4 authors we had a wide range of types of fantasy, from young adult through high school and beyond. Then they mentioned that the signing would be from 2-4pm at the Waldenbooks at the Oakdale Mall (in Binghamton, NY) on Saturday.
And that was that. I was surprisingly calm. It must be the "teacher" presence. I'm certainly more relaxed in front of people and crowds now than I was at the beginning of college. In any case, I'll post a link to the interview so everyone can snicker at my frog-voice as soon as I know it's up online.
In the meantime, WIN A FREE BOOK! I just posted a discussion over at
dawbooks about Jim C. Hines' newest release The Stepsister Scheme, and he's decided to run a little contest over there. Go check it out! And just think, if you comment, you're actually entered not only in Jim Hines' contest, but also the monthly DAW Books contest for a free DAW paperback! Two contests in one!
Life is good.
