First off, I just want to thank everyone who congratulated me on my newfound "uncleness". Pictures of the little nephew have arrived. Expect some gratuitous baby picspam in the near future. *grin*

But today, you will get gratuitous book picspam instead! Ha ha! There are actually a few friends/authors with books being released today and I'll try to get to the rest later this week ([livejournal.com profile] madkestrel), but for today, you get Barbara Campbell. She currently has three books out: Heartwood, Bloodstone which I recently reviewed, and the newest, just released to the wilds today, Foxfire. I can't wait to get my hands on it. *ahem . . . looks pointedly at [livejournal.com profile] fireun*

Since my cover art files don't seem to be working lately (and I need to do a post about THAT as well to see if any of you guys can tell me what I'm doing wrong), you get a slideshow of her books instead. This links to Amazon.com, and if you order things through this link, it helps me defray the cost of the books I give away over at the [livejournal.com profile] dawbooks blog on a monthly basis. So click through the link to help spread book love! (Even if you aren't buying these particular books in the end.)

Oh, and as an informal poll to sate my curiousity, which of the three covers do you like best? And why?

So I asked Barbara to provide some information about her books. She sent the following, where she talks about choosing a title, along with providing a description of the book and a few other topics. Please read and enjoy . . . and then go buy her books! In fact, just skip reading this and go buy her books directly instead. *grin*

Barbara Campbell (in her own words) on choosing a title for book 3

It took me a long time to choose a title. I got lots of suggestions from readers (including such humorous favorites as Dust Bunny and Kidney Stone). After much noodling, I broke out of the Body Part + Natural Substance groove to choose Foxfire. It's been used by other authors, but it has special resonance for Book Three of the trilogy. Foxfire is a fungus that grows on decaying wood, and since one of the issues in the novel is the destruction of the forests, this seemed apt. Also, it pays tribute to Fellgair, the driving force behind many of the events in the story.

So What's This One About?

A bit "twilight of the gods," actually. It begins fourteen years after Bloodstone. The Zherosi have subdued the southern lands of the children of the Oak and Holly, and have recently begun establishing fortresses in the north. They're also logging the forests along the river where Darak and Griane grew up. Some tribes are resisting the occupation, but most have found cooperation to be easier - and more profitable.

Read more. Seriously. )

And now, if you haven't already, go and buy! You shouldn't have even gotten this far without caving, especially after my review. And let me know what you think of the books when you're done!
