For Mother's Day, I'm Giving Away My Kids . . . Free to Good Homes!
So Happy Mother's Day to everyone out there for which the day is relevant. In order to celebrate, I'm going to give away some of my own kids. Meaning of course, my books. You see, I order copies of my books so that when I go to cons or signings and such I can always have some on hand in case the ones the dealers or the bookstore owners ordered in sell out and there are still interested customers. This way, no one goes away unhappy (customer because they can't get the book, me because I potentially lost a sale, bookseller/dealer because they lost a sale). However, when I get these copies, there is invariably a copy or two that is a little . . . beat up. A slightly crushed corner because the box was dropped, for example. I can't typically sell these copies, because they're damaged, and getting them sent back and replaced is just a pain in the ass. So I've decided to suck up the cost of the book and just give them away free this month. I've been giving away copies of other people's books, so I figure I may as well give some of my own away as well, right?
So, the giveaway this month is that you can win a slightly battered copy of The Skewed Throne, signed by me, if you leave a comment on this post. I have 2 copies to give away this month, but there will likely be future such giveaways of mildly abused books from my stock as well. If you've already got the book, enter anyway and give the copy to a friend! Or let everyone on your friends list know about the giveaway so they can learn the value of reading Joshua Palmatier's books! Spread the word around.
I'll let the contest run for about a week, and then I'll pick the winners. Good luck everyone!
In other news, I ran across the cover copy of the German edition of my second book The Cracked Throne, retitled as "Die Regentin." They used the same artist as the first cover, F. Fiedler, which you can see here, and they followed the same style. So take a look and tell me what you think. The first book, "Die Assassine," is schedule for release in Germany in August 2009 and the second book for January 2010 (according to the publisher's website).
I'm seriously stoked about the German release. *grin*
